Reconnecting
Recently I spent some time in the Highlands of Scotland on a family holiday. I absolutely love Scotland and have spent many holidays there with my family over the years. It is such a stunning country and is the ideal place to spend time reconnecting with the outdoors, nature, and just taking in the amazing scenery and simplicity of it all. We went on lots of walks with our two Westies, and for Scotland, we had some really great weather.
Confessing
When on holiday I like to have a few more drinks than normal. Who doesn’t. So I’m confessing to this fact, and admitting that I had a drink every day. I don’t drink excessively by any means, but I do enjoy the odd pint or gin now and again. Sometimes it is too easy to slip in to the habit having an alcoholic drink every day, and I have to be careful the my Friday/Saturday night drink doesn’t turn in to Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday night drinks when my pain is bad or I’m having a tough week. Alcohol is a relaxant, so for me, one drink is enough.
Relaxing
Since coming back from holiday it’s been quite full on – getting back in to my work routine, doing house chores, attending a Hen Do, and doing my daughter duties to help my mum and dad with their trips to the hospital. They don’t live local to me so I’ve been traveling about a bit too. I need to ensure I find time for relaxing so I don’t over do things and get too tired and drained. Tiredness always make my pain so much harder to manage, so time to relax is an essential part of my pain management.
THE NEXT TWO PROMPTS ARE BELOW BUT YOU MAY LIKE TO READ read more about my recent holiday to scotland
I’m so glad I…did all that travelling even though it caused so much more pain
Romanticising
This is a tough word to use as a prompt as I don’t think I’ve never really thought about what it means nor have I intentionally used it. I know what it means, but it’s not in my usual vocabulary. Something I often find myself doing without realising it though, is romanticising about my blog and how successful I can make it. And when it’s grown and grown I can give up work and become a full-time blogger. But I know this will never happen as it’s not that straightforward and in reality, isn’t something I’d be happy or willing to do. I love the security and challenges of my day job too much.

Sharing
I’ve been blogging for 12 months now and the more my confidence has grown, the more I am enjoying sharing my chronic pain journey and experiences with my readers. I’m getting really good feedback each week and this is reassuring me that my content is useful and appreciated.
I’d love to know if there are any topics you’d like me to write about, so please do get in touch or comment below.
I came across this Link Up Party by Sheryl from A Chronic Voice on Twitter. The idea is that you use the prompts to write your blog post. Read Sheryl’s post for the full details.
Sheryl shares some amazing stories on her blog, and is a great support for other bloggers and writers who have a chronic illness and/or chronic pain.
If you have a chronic illness or chronic pain why don’t you take part too?
Great to read your prompts! My family are from Scotland and I’ve visited everywhere BUT the Highlands, I’ve always wanted to go. And I definitely think the drinks are allowed 🙂 Lookjng forward to reading more of your blog 🙂
Thank you for commenting Jenny. I’m glad you enjoyed my post. You must visit the Highlands one day. It’s a magical place.
Thank you for sharing! It’s nice to read a fellow spoonie talking about positivity on their journey! Chronic pain is tough to manage – my partner is currently working on managing his – he had a constant headache from a brain injury, until he fractured his hip joint! That pain now blocks out the headache *sigh* you never know what will happen next! Thanks for the good read!
I’m glad you enjoyed reading my post, thank you. I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s pain – you’re right, it’s never easy to manage. It’s strange how the body reacts when new pains come along. I’m glad one pain eased up for him though.
Hi Ali, I have mentioned you and shared your post in a shout out on Magic Magic Inspiring Blogs for You! Claire x
Thank you so so much Claire ?
Sounds like a great time, Alice, and I’m really glad you enjoyed a couple drinks and the environment! Scotland always struck me as far, wide, and beautiful. Would love to visit someday 🙂 Sending hugs! x
You must visit the Highlands if you do go – such an amazing place. Thanks Sheryl.
