I was inspired by the blog Milly’s Guide to do a regular #FridayFive gratitude blog post of my own. Focusing on what we are grateful for and the positives of our week can lead to better wellbeing, happiness, and can really change our outlook on things.

What I'm grateful for this week - 8 June

When you have chronic pain it is extremely important to focus on the positives and the things you are grateful for. Dwelling on the negatives and the things you can’t control can add to your anxiety and stress, and make it even harder to manage your pain. Practicing gratitude is a simple way to try and change your mindset and it easily becomes a habit the more you do it.

Here are 5 of the things I am grateful for this week:

1.  My Dad’s CT scan results came back clear, which means the cancer hasn’t spread. I’m so so grateful for this – it’s such a relief!

2. I’m not a fan but I went to see Alfie Boe with my Mum. I’m grateful for spending some quality time with her and to do something fun together. She’s had a lot going on lately and it was good to do something different to take her mind off things. I had such a fantastic time despite being in a lot more pain. I’m also grateful to my partner for keeping my Dad company whilst me and my Mum were out for the evening. Look out for my short blog post about this next Wednesday!

3. I had my first BBQ of the year at Mum and Dad’s – I’m grateful for the sunshine, the delicious food, and a lovely evening watching the sunset in the garden.

4. I bought a new KeepCup and I am grateful for the 4 free coffee vouchers that came with it – #littlethings.

5 I’m grateful that we got tickets for a local Gin Tasting event this Saturday. I’m really looking forward to it, and trying some new gins of course.

So glad your dad’s scan came back clear, that must be a huge relief to the whole family.
I’m grateful to my parents for letting me stay at their house during a difficult time.

Thanks Nicola 🙂 It’s a huge relief for all of us. Things would have been potentially life changing if the results were any different. I’m sorry to hear you’re having a difficult time. I hope things are better or improving for you. Thank you for sharing what you are grateful for too 🙂 x
