I saw that I was tagged in this blog post by Nicola at Nicola J Ogston and the title immediately grabbed my attention. My belief is that my pain should not be the focus of my life, so as much as I enjoy writing my blog and sharing my experiences about life with chronic pain, I love that this blog is just about me, and does not mention my pain. This post will help you get to know me a little better, and click here to read Nicola’s You behind the illness post. And thank you for the tag! I’ve tagged a few people below to join in but anyone can take part.
Four placeS I’ve lived
- Yorkshire, England
Four places I’ve worked
- In a pub doing general bar work
In an office doing all sorts, including dealing with complaints, inputting data, and examining surveillance footage
In a conference centre
As a taxi driver – this one always surprises people
Four favourite hobbies
- Blogging – I absolutely love blogging and everything about it (research, planning, design, networking)
Reading – I love to get lost in a good book, especially when I’m on holiday
Kriss Kross puzzles – I enjoy other puzzles too but I’m best at these ones
Adult colouring – I got in to this after my surgery a few years ago; it’s a good form of mindfulness and distraction
Four things I like to watch
- My two Westies, Milo and Wesley – they are so entertaining
Jamie Oliver programmes – I’m a huge fan!
A good drama series – such as Luther (BBC), Shooter (Netflix) and Broadchurch (ITV)
The sunset – ideally with a clear sky on the coast
Four things I like to read
- Non-fiction – I love learning about real life events and self-development stuff
Blog posts – there are some fascinating posts out there
Hen and the Art of Chicken Maintenance is one of favourite books
My Twitter feed – I learn something new everyday
Four places I’ve been
- New York – AMAZING!
All over Scotland – I absolutely love it
Cape Verde – not much to do there but ideal for a relaxing sun holiday
Venice – probably the most beautiful, romantic, relaxing place I’ve been to
Four things I love to eat
- Pick ‘n’ mix sweets – they always put a smile on my face
Roast dinner – and no matter what meat is on the plate, it has to include Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, lots of gravy, and mint sauce or apple sauce (or both)
Cereal – I’ll eat most of them but my favourites are Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, Shreddies, and Rice Krispies
Popcorn – it has to be sweet (which I was amazed – and shocked – to find out they don’t sell in New York cinemas)
Four favourite things to drink
- Beer – I can nurse a pint for hours
Coffee – I never used to drink coffee, but now I grind my own beans at home, and the best is the first cup of the day
Orange juice – I don’t drink too much of this because of the sugar content but I love it
Red Bull – again, I don’t drink a lot of it at all, but it is delicious
Four places I want to visit
- Thailand – I went when I was 9 and would love to go back again with my partner
Bora Bora – the dream holiday!
Los Angeles – so many places I want to visit in LA.
Newcastle – we’ve been wanting to go for the last few years, and we are finally going in September this year
