Why I wrote my chronic pain book

Quite simply, I wanted to create something short and sweet to help people living with chronic pain. The book is in an A-Z format that gives a practical overview of what people can do to help cope and manage their pain better. In this post I give a little more detail about why I wrote my chronic pain book and explain how it can help you.

What is my book about?

My book is about chronic pain. I wanted it to be simple, to the point, and useful. An A-Z of Chronic Pain is designed to help people understand and cope better with their chronic pain.

It is an overview of the things that are important when it comes to learning how to live with daily pain. It will help everyone understand more and cope better on a daily basis.

There is no definitive A-Z of chronic pain as everyone’s pain is different, but the aim of this book is to help inspire the reader to take action and feel better – today!

My book provides information and advice on:

  • What you need to do to help yourself
  • Ideas to help you improve your wellbeing
  • Things you can do everyday to see things differently
  • Ways to make you feel more relaxed, and
  • Many other tips to help you through the bad days

It is designed to help you take control and do more to help yourself and to live the best life you can despite your chronic pain.

Who is my chronic pain book for?

My book is for anyone who has chronic pain – whether they’ve had it for years or are still learning what it is and in the early stages of their chronic pain journey.

What is the format of my book?

It’s written so that each topic is on one page. I purposely designed it this way so that the amount of text visible at any one time wasn’t overwhelming. Very often when you have chronic pain, you need to be able to deal with things is short bursts – and this book helps you do just that.

Why is my book so short?

I wanted it to be simple, easy to read, and provide simple tips and advice to help the reader take a step forward, no matter how bad things are. Not overwhelming, or for the reader to feel like they have a lot to get through.

There is so much information online or provided by the specialists who know a lot more than I do. I wanted this book to be short so it gave clear and specific information – not the science, technical stuff, or the unwanted material that can cause confusion.

Why does my book have short chapters?

I intentionally wanted it to be an easy read. The kind of book where you can read one page at a time, and not worry about remembering what you had read should you need to put it down. Each of the 26 topics is on one page so that the mind can focus on one thing and can better take it all in.

Why does my chronic pain book have images?

Too much text can feel overwhelming. I wanted it to have images so that it was more interesting to look at and a more enjoyable read; something inspiring to keep the reader going on those tough days when this book can prove so useful.

Hopefully, the images on each page can help the reader remember things better too. A visual prompt may spring back to mind on those tough days when you need a little helping hand or a little nudge in the right direction.
