Having a good posture is more important than ever. The 21st century human lifestyle of spending lots of time sitting, slouching, on laptops and phones, watching TV, and spending lots of time at our desks, means that we need to spend a little more effort focusing on our posture. This is even more important when you suffer from chronic pain and often the need to get comfy takes priority over your posture. Why? Because having a bad posture can cause further problems and pain which are even harder to manage – I know from experience. In this blog post I review the Women’s Posture Shirt 2.0 Zipper by ActivePosture which can help make this effort a little easier.

I was not financially compensated for this post but I did receive the Women’s Posture Shirt 2.0 Zipper from ActivePosture free of charge so that I could write this review. The opinions expressed in this post are completely my own based on my own experience.

The ActivePosture Women’s Posture Shirt 2.0 Zipper

What is posture clothing and how does it work?

Posture clothing is a simple, comfortable, and practical way of helping anyone improve their posture. ActivePosture products activate muscle memory to help you achieve an improved, upright posture.

Your posture has an influence on your physical health and overall well-being, so having aligned posture benefits us during work, training and in everyday life.

What appealed to me about the ActivePosture brand is that their products are inspired by the concept of Kinesio-taping (also known as KT or physio tape) which I regularly use to help manage my neck pain.

This tape helps stimulate and realign the muscles leading to a more aligned posture, as well as improving blood-flow and circulation. Using a product such as the Posture Shirt is a simpler and easier solution than the tape, but each have their own purposes depending on the individual, their pain, and their needs.

My experiences of using the Women’s Posture Shirt 2.0 Zipper

I’ve been using the Women’s Posture Shirt 2.0 Zipper for about 3 weeks now (a men’s version is also available). I’ve mainly worn it whilst working at my height adjustable desk on my laptop and when going for walk, so a good mix of sitting, standing and moving.

The Posture Shirt is designed to improve posture and reduce back pain. I was keen to give it a try with the aim of improving my neck pain – when my posture is bad my neck pain is worse.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first tried it on. I’ve used posture braces previously and found them extremely uncomfortable and fiddly to get on and off and this didn’t encourage me to keep wearing it. This shirt was the complete opposite – it was extremely comfortable, felt almost luxurious in its quality, and I couldn’t wait to get it on each day.

In summary, I have definitely benefited from wearing this shirt as I am even more aware of my posture and how it is affecting me. Obviously, after 3 weeks my posture isn’t perfect, and it probably never will be due to my individual circumstances and pain. But I know that the more I use the shirt and think about my posture, the more benefit I will have and hopefully it will help reduce my neck pain.

What I liked about the Women’s Posture Shirt 2.0 Zipper

You can wear it in everyday situations, such as when working at a desk, when walking, or when resting. I’ve not tried it during exercise, so I can’t comment on this. It automatically makes your posture better, but also improves your overall awareness of it and makes you think more about it which helps you when you’re not wearing it.

You can tell this shirt is quality made; the material is smooth, the little hooks are a super little idea which makes it easier to fasten the shirt, and it fits extremely well. I can’t fault the way it looks and feels.

It does exactly what it says on the website:

“The Posture Shirt 2.0 Zipper provides daily support, whether youโ€™re sitting, standing or on the move…[it] features patented NeuroBand-technology which activates and stimulates shoulder and back muscles to help you improve your posture…Weโ€™ve added a zipper to our popular Posture Shirt 2.0, making it easy to put on and take off.”

The website, and guide that comes with the shirt, is very clear about what to expect from wearing it, and advises you that it needs to be tight-fitting to achieve results. Therefore, you must make sure you get the right size and ActivePosture provide a guide to help you do this. The instructions that come with the product are also simple and clear.

The whole customer journey with ActivePosture, from using the website to using the product, feels very professional and all-round excellent quality. The packaging was impressive too.

What I didn’t like about the Women’s Posture Shirt 2.0 Zipper

Using the words ‘didn’t like’ almost feels too strong, but I like to write honest reviews on my blog and always include this section. The only thing that I can write negatively about it is that the zip is the opposite way round. The bit you pull up is on the right hand-side, which took a little getting used to. Nothing major though as I had mastered it after a few days.

Thanks for reviewing this. I didn’t know they made tops like this. I’ve had to wear braces in the past to and they were so uncomfortable. This sounds really interesting.
