What to do when you’re feeling run down

From time to time, we all feel a little off in life. It can be busy and illnesses can circulate. If you’re not careful, you can start to feel a little run down, which is always hard on top of any existing health conditions, chronic illnesses, and pains.

Whether you have a busy life or you suffer from a low immune system, you may find that you’re feeling more run down than healthy. And the good news is that there are things you can do to help yourself. It’s just something that you need to do with intention. It’s important for you to take a step back and be a lot more serious about your life, diet, energy, and everything else. When you do, you’ll be able to feel better in yourself. So, let’s take a look.

Slow down

To start with, you’re going to need to slow down. If you are run down, it’s usually your body’s way of telling you that you need to rest. You’re working too hard and your body isn’t able to keep up. So, the first thing to do is slow down.

Get more sleep

The next thing that is really going to help your body to heal right now is sleep. When it comes to getting healthier, your body needs to nourish itself and work to fight any stress or illness, and it does that when you sleep. If you know that you don’t always sleep that well, you’ll want to work on getting healthier sleep and more of it. If you can rest as much as possible, you’ll know that you’ll start to feel better and more energised.

Eat well

Any time you are feeling more off than normal, you need to nourish your body with the right nutrients. It works so well if you can try to eat more fruits and vegetables and juices to help you fight off any exhaustion that you’re feeling. Remember, treat with what you eat!

Take medicine

From here, you’re going to want to make sure that you are taking any medicine that is going to help you. While you may know that antibiotics aren’t going to cure your cold, other remedies might. It could be that taking Strepsils help your throat or ibuprofen might help any aches you have.

Take better care of yourself

Finally, you want to make sure that you can take much better care of yourself. If you are run down and you’re stressed or you’re doing too much in life, then you’ll know that’s why. It’s important that you not only slow down and treat your body better, but that you relax your mind too. Stay away from your devices and aim to relax a lot more. Having a bath or reading can help you to feel much better and heal quicker too.

    I feel perpetually in this state 😂I do think that slowing down is underrated. We can be too focused on keeping going, pushing forward, doing all the things on our to do lists we need to do that we neglect proper rest. Not just sleep either, but chilling out (including giving our brains a break from stressing). Great tips, Alice!
