I’ve struggled with my pain this week, so I have decided not to do my usual Sunday blog post. I just haven’t had the energy or focus this week, and I didn’t want to make my pain worse by spending hours at my laptop. Instead I wanted to remind you all to do something everyday that you love to do.
It doesn’t have to be anything big, but just something that is for you; something that you enjoy; something that you love to do. Just 5 minutes of doing something that is for you can really boost your wellbeing and make you feel better about yourself.
Hopefully, doing something that you enjoy will help distract you from your chronic pain too. Distraction is a brilliant pain management technique. I use it everyday, and although my pain doesn’t go away, the fact I am doing something that makes me happy, or helps me switch off from my pain, really does help me.
Life is too short to not do the things we enjoy. I get how chronic pain can make it hard sometimes, but there is always something that you can do, for you, and that you love to do.
Here are a few ideas
Read a book.
Go for a walk.
Meet a friend.
Listen to the birds.
Play your favourite song.
Make your favourite meal.
Watch a Netflix series until 1am.
Do absolutely nothing for half an hour.
Distract yourself and do something creative.
Writing, sewing, crafting, painting, baking, drawing.
As long as it’s for you…
…It doesn’t matter what it is. Make time for you, do something everyday that you love, and it will make you feel better.
This book backups what I’m saying
I’m reading Dr Chatterjee’s book The 4 Pillar Plan and the first chapter on Relax really backs up what I am saying.
What are you going to do today that you love to do?
