This is my weekly post where I share what I have been grateful for over the last week. Being grateful and focusing on the positives of our days and week can lead to better wellbeing, happiness, and can really change our outlook on things. It can also help with worry and anxiety.

I was inspired to do a weekly gratitude blog post after reading the #FridayFive posts on Milly’s Guide. Mental Health Advocate, Lauren Ephithite, has a Facebook group where we are encouraged to share the five things we are grateful for each week.
When you have chronic pain it is extremely important to focus on the positives and the things you are grateful for. Dwelling on the negatives and the things you can’t control can add to your anxiety and stress, and make it even harder to manage your pain. Being grateful is a simple way to try to change your mindset and it soon becomes a habit the more you do it.
In my book review of Betsy Craig’s book Unstoppable: A recipe for success in life and business, One of Betsy’s principles is gratitude and this is summed up extremely well in the quote below:
Coming from a space of gratitude can change your perspective and outlook on life. It causes you to open your eyes and notice the good things happening all around you. It doesn’t mean there won’t be challenges, but they are no longer the focus. Your attention falls on what you do have instead of what you don’t.
Here are 5 of the things I am grateful for this week:
1. You may have seen on my Instagram page that I went on a Hen Do last weekend. I was very anxious about it as it’s not my cup of tea at all but I was honoured to be invited and wanted to show my support for the bride-to-be. We had a party bus journey to get to our destination and I wasn’t looking forward to getting out my coccyx cut-out cushion in front of strangers in the group who I didn’t know. I was so so grateful for Miss C being discrete about asking her brother to put my cushion (in its bag) on the bus and also for her support when someone started asking me about my pain. They could see I was struggling and were just concerned. I tried to hide it but I couldn’t.
2. Also on the Hen Do, I was chuffed with myself for thinking of asking, and also grateful that the Premier Inn we stayed at had a phone charger in lost property that I could use to charge my phone. We both forgot ours.
3. I tried a cronut for the first time ever. It’s a pastry that is a mix of croissant and donut. It was so delicious I didn’t even have chance take a photo of it.

4. My dad was grateful that I took him to the hospital this week. We had a few issues (which I won’t go in to) but I could tell he was really appreciative that I was there and could help out. As well as giving me some other money and gifts to say thank you, he gave me £10 to spend at a local farm shop that I absolutely love. He wanted me to get something for myself, so I did: lunch, a beer, and some toffee liquorice sweets.
5. I had Haggis for tea. I love it. I usually have it smothered in gravy with veg and chips or potatoes. But this time I had it with a salad one night, and hash browns the next. Yum!
