The world of blogging is both exciting and daunting. There’s so much advice and opinions on what you should and shouldn’t be doing and it’s hard to know where to start and who to listen to. I wanted to make sure I learnt from someone with experience and a tried-and-tested approach on their own blog that I could use on Notebooks and Glasses to make it the successful blog I want it to be. Emma Drew was that someone so I enrolled on to her online course, Turn Your Dreams into Money. Every new blogger needs to do this online course.

Why did I choose this course?

I’d been following Emma for some time. I first came across her From Aldi to Harrods blog when someone showed me a Daily Mail article about how to make some extra money. Emma has since rebranded and renamed her blog?EmmaDrew.info where she continues to write about making money, saving money and living the life you want, as well as sharing her thoughts and experiences to help others build a successful blog.

I did my research and time and time again I came back to Emma’s Turn Your Dreams in to Money online course. It seemed to tick the boxes of what I was wanting – an online course, lifetime access, and within my price range (more on this below).

My blog was launched before I started this course. I did this on purpose so I could put in to practice what I was learning. I was cheeky and emailed Emma to see if there were any discount offers coming up soon. Emma was honest and said there would be a discount offer via the Ultimate Blogger’s Toolkit and this honesty persuaded me even more to trust Emma.

Emma told me the dates when the discount offer was on and I signed up when I was on my holiday in Venice. I was determined to get signed up and get learning.

How the course helped me

I specifically wanted a course to give me a good overview of creating and developing a blog, and this online course did that perfectly.

I completed the course a few months ago, but now I’ve been blogging for 10 months, I’ve been going through it again to make sure I’ve not missed anything, especially now I understand a lot more now (which is different from the early days of my blog). I’m using some of Emma’s tips to improve my blog and make things easier for me.

As part of the course, I got a free blog critique by Emma, and I found this extremely useful. Emma looked at my blog with a fresh pair of eyes and picked up on some stuff that made my blog look messy and my images weren’t formatted correctly to fit my theme. My blog is so familiar to me that I had even noticed. I took on board Emma’s advice and tips and made the suggested changes. I’ve still got some more images to edit, but this can be done over time.

Is it value for money?

The course costs ?197 ($250) but it is worth every penny (or dollar), especially because it covers so much and you have lifetime access to it, which means, like me, you can keep going back to it. This also means there’s no pressure to get the course done in a limited amount of time, and you can dip in and out of it as and when you need.

I was lucky to get a discount on the cost of the course, and Emma may do other reduced price offers in the future. There are options to sign up to a payment plan where the cost of the course is split over two payments of ?125 per month ($160 per month).

I’d also say it is value for money just for the critique – it is worth every penny just for this. When I signed up, the course also came with a copy of the book Blogging Your Way to Riches by Emma Bradley and Lynn James. I’m not sure if this is still included in the course, but I found it a really useful read.

The course also comes with:

  • A workbook that you can use to keep track of your notes and learning.
  • Access to a Facebook page, where you can chat to others on the course, ask questions, and take part in?daily threads.
  • An opportunity to sign up to Emma’s affiliate scheme.

Who is this course for?

This course is perfect for any new blogger who wants to learn an overview of blogging – what blogging is, how to get set up, and ways to promote and make money from your blog. It is also ideal for any experienced logger who wants some advice to revamp their blog and get some sound advice on making improvements, improving posts, or taking the next step to make money ?and grow your traffic.
