It’s taken me a few weeks to get my blog set up and at the point where I’m happy with it. I’m new to all this – blogging, website design, WordPress – so it’s taken a little longer than planned. But here it is, my first blog post about why I’m blogging about my life with chronic pain.
If you’ve read my About section you’ll know that I suffer from chronic lower back pain. I’m sitting here determined to get up and running with my blog and my pain has got worse. I’m fidgeting, and in all honesty it’s a struggle, but do y’know what, it’s more exciting to be finally writing, that, right now, this is more important to me. And my pain can do one. It won’t, but you know what I mean. It can scream and shout at me and try and stop me, but I won’t let it take over. After 5 years I have learned to cope with my pain and not let it take over. On bad days it does to some degree and I have to be sensible, but right now, I have determination.
Determination to get this first blog post finished; determination to do what I enjoy doing; determination to not let it beat me.
I may regret this later on, when I have to lie down to avoid my pain, or I’ve caused aches and pains elsewhere by avoiding my back pain. But right now I’m focusing on what I can do, not on what I can’t.
What my blog is about
Ultimately my blog will be about this – living with chronic pain, staying positive, doing what I can do, demonstrating that you can still do the things you enjoy. There will be ups and downs, but everyone has those. And I’m sure I’ll write posts about the frustrations of my pain. But I want to blog to share how I get on with my life and how I live with chronic pain.
Hopefully, you my readers, will get something out of it too.?If you also suffer from chronic pain, you may find we have things in common; you may learn something from me; you may also want to ask me questions or post comments. I hope in some way that my blog is supportive or inspiring in whatever way benefits you. And if you don’t suffer chronic pain, then ditto to the latter sentence anyway.
My pain doesn’t dictate my life, therefore it won’t dictate my blog, neither. I will also write about the things I love, the things I do, and my time with my family. Don’t get me wrong, my days are never pain free, and it’s very draining thinking about and coping with my pain. This is my ongoing pain journey and I am always looking at how I can do things better or how I can think about things differently to make things better for myself.
